Beginner Railroad Spike Knife Making Class
This hands-on beginner class is a great introduction to bladesmithing! You’ll learn how to forge your very own railroad spike knife while picking up essential blacksmithing skills along the way. The class includes basic forging techniques and a short introduction to grinding, with the instructor handling final grinding and sharpening as needed.
Because of the type of steel used in railroad spikes, no heat treatment will be performed. This class is perfect for anyone curious about knife making and looking to see if more advanced classes might be right for them.
Important Notes:
- A signed liability waiver is required to participate. Waivers will be provided and signed at the beginning of class. A copy is available for review under the FAQ section of this webpage.
- We’ll break for about one hour for lunch. Feel free to bring your own or head out to enjoy a local restaurant.
- A minimum of three (3) students is required. If the minimum is not met, the class will be rescheduled.
